Coffee aficionados pay close attention to a coffee’s country of origin, but little thought is given to the people who grow and pick coffee beans. Getting beans to market is labor intensive work done by hand in remote and often impoverished coffee-growing regions throughout the world.
Three Vancouver businesses have joined a fundraising campaign to aid victims of the Camp Fire in northern California. Trap Door Brewing, Brothers Cascadia Brewing and Great Western Malting will help with a nationwide effort to brew batches of Sierra Nevada Brewing’s “Resilience IPA” and donate the proceeds.
Volunteers are needed to help assemble hundreds of bicycles to be gifted to local children in need. The bike build happening 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 8 is part of the eighth annual Scott Campbell Christmas Promise, which aims to raise enough money to buy 800 bicycles.
