LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. — The Indiana Pacers held off the Portland Trail Blazers, 91-88 on Thursday, in the first scrimmage for both teams at the NBA Season Restart.

A big plus for the Blazers was Jusuf Nurkic back on the floor as a starter.

In his first NBA live action since he broke his leg on March 25, 2019, Nurkic played 20 minutes, shot 6 for 10 and scored 14 points.

“In the opportunities that he had, he looked good,” Portland coach Terry Stotts said.

The Trail Blazers also got Zach Collins back after he missed several months recovering from shoulder surgery. He had six points and four rebounds.

The Pacers looked in control, leading 89-77 with 3:32 remaining, but the Blazers went on an 11-2 run to trim the deficit to three at 91-88 with 13 seconds remaining.

The Blazers then forced a turnover for one last shot, but Jaylen Hoard’s 3-point attempt in the final seconds narrowly missed.

The Blazers were just 5 of 26 from 3-point range, while Indiana was 13-of-33.

Justin Holiday scored 16 points off the bench to lead the Pacers.

The Trail Blazers were led by reserve Mario Hezonja’s 15 points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals. Damian Lillard finished with four points and seven assists in 20 minutes.

Portland’s next scrimmage is against Toronto on Sunday.
