Prep highlights: Ridgefield soccer stays unbeaten

Jude Willis scored twice as the Ridgefield boys soccer team beat Hudson’s Bay 5-1 on Thursday to remain undefeated in the 2A Greater St. Helens League.

Willis scored his team’s first two goals. Israel Hernandez, Fernando Jimenez and Ben Poppert added goals for the Spudders.

At 3-0, Ridgefield joins 4-0 Columbia River as the only unbeaten teams in the 2A GSHL. Those teams face off Saturday night at River for their lone clash of the season.

Stars of the day

Daniel Barna, Columbia River boys track and field, won the 3,200 meters in a personal-best time of 10 minutes, 26 seconds in a dual meet against Woodland. He also won the 1,600.

Lucy George, Woodland girls track and field, won the high jump, long jump, javelin and 100 meter hurdles in a dual meet against Columbia River. Her long jump mark of 17 feet, 2 inches and her javelin mark of 112 feet, 5 inches were both personal bests.

Alex Harris and Carver Taylor, Columbia River boys soccer, each scored two goals in a 5-0 win over Hockinson.

Elijah Wall, Seton Catholic boys soccer, scored one of the Cougars’ three second-half goals in a 3-1 win over Columbia Adventist.

Nick Alder, Columbia River baseball, went 3 for 3 with a double in a 15-5 win over R.A. Long.

Angel Merino, La Center boys soccer, had two goals and an assist in a 4-1 win over King’s Way Christian.

Gaige Pilot, Woodland boys soccer, scored two goals as the Beavers overcame a 2-0 deficit to beat Fort Vancouver 3-2.
